Geothermal attractions

  • Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland

    Located 20 minutes south of Rotorua is home to the Champagne Pool and the Lady Knox Geyser that erupts daily at 10.15am.

  • Waimungu Volcanic Valley

    Created in the Mount Tarawera eruption in 1886 Waimungu is the world’s youngest geothermal area.

  • Orakei Korako

    Known as the hidden valley and featured in AA’s 101 must see and do’s in New Zealand. Possibly the best thermal area in New Zealand.

  • Te Puia

    New Zealand’s premier Maori cultural centre and home of the world famous Pohutu Geyser. The Pohutu Geyser is currently the most active it has been for a number of years.

  • Hells Gate

    The fiercest of the geothermal areas featuring hot-water lakes, New Zealand’s largest mud volcano and the largest hot water waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere.

  • Skyline

    Ride the gondola up to Cableway Restaurant on Mount Ngongotaha. At the top enjoy the view or ride the skyline luge, the sky swing or take a trip in the 4d motion theatre spaceship.

  • Rainbow Springs

    Set in 22 acres of parkland Rainbow springs is home to a wide range of animal life including large wild trout, tuatara and the kiwi.

  • Agrodome

    Experience the world famous sheep show, go on an organic farm tour or see a shearing shed in action

  • Paradise Valley Springs

    Set in tranquil native bush see a huge array of animals this park has to offer, featuring Lion feeding at 2.30pm every day. You may even get to pat a lion cub.

  • Rotorua Duck Tours
